Unpowered BEST Electrical Test and powered BEST Electrical Test

The BEST electrical test (BGA & Electronic Silicon Test) is an electrical test involving the testing of each contact on a component to ensure that the electrical components properties, specified by the datasheet. This is a very strong tool which allows us to detect whether a component is a defective component, with normal defects being:

ESD damage to components
Electrical overstress of components
Internal physical damage caused by heat damage etc.

The BEST electrical test has 2 variants:

BEST Test Equipment

Unpowered electrical testing does not ad any stimulus to an electronic component, effectively the device is not switched on. This still allows detection of most of the defects mentioned above. Unpowered electrical testing is normally a relatively quick test and is excellent for using a known good device for comparion functions.

Powered Electrical Testing

Powered BEST Test Equipment

Powered electrical testing is a development of unpowered electrical testing. We can now apply up to 4 voltages to an electrical component and place it into an active mode, testing eachpin of the device accordingly. We also have the opportunity to send signals into each device to replicate certain operating conditions.
